UPDATE: Okay, we are at 398 comments between here and our facebook page!! So keep spreading the word. We are so blessed by the encouraging words you are sending our way and by God's faithfulness and presence in all of this!
Okay, more goosebumps coming your way...are you ready?
I will honestly admit this week has been more of a 'downer' for me as we are waiting on paperwork to be corrected, waiting on USCIS to assign us an officer, trying to come up with new fundraising ideas, etc. Just not a lot of fun, exciting stuff this week...especially after Leah's Lemonade Stand success last week! So I listened to a great podcast Thursday while driving to Hutch, to work, about being "Surprised by God's Willingness", from the Village Church. (check it out on iTunes) Anyway, it hit me in the face like a ton of bricks. In short, prayer can change things. Ask, Seek, Knock. Those are the 3 child-like images Scripture uses to illustrate that we should ask God boldly, and live in faith knowing He will respond appropriately. So that is just what I did. I prayed unceasingly the past 2 days...then..
My phone rings at 9:45 am this morning and Stephanie Bergmann is on the other end. Yeah, who would have thought? A sweet friend of mine made some connections and pitched our story of adopting Blake to the news station. They contacted us. I happened to be at home today. Stephanie and Rob drove up in the pouring rain. Jerad and I shared our story of falling in love with Blake. We took some pictures. And you can see how it plays out at 6 pm tonight on Channel 3. Or visit www.KSN.com after the news airs to see the story online. Check out the story here.
But...the story does not end there. Another person, who desires to remain anonymous, found out about this news story and challenged all Channel 3 viewers to comment on this blog that you watched the news story at 6 and they will donate $1 for every comment...UP TO $1000!!!
Whoa!!! I was in a teary-mess when I found out this information. I'm glad the UPS man didn't show up today with more paperwork, he would have seriously wondered what my problem was...! I probably wouldn't have been able to tell him through all the tears, anyway.
So leave here with this...prayer changes things. Believe me. Trust in that, then hit the words "comment" below and leave us a message! Help us Bring Home Blake.

What a wonderful story. My wife and I, too, have adopted internationally and what a fantastic experience it has been. Our oldest son (bio) is 10, our daughter (adopted from China at age 14 months) is 7 and our youngest son (special needs adoption at age 26 months from China) is 5 and will start Kindergarten next week. We wish you the best in your fundraising efforts to bring this sweet boy to his forever family!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't watch it on Channel 3 as I live in Nebraska...but WILL be seeking it out online as soon as I get home tonight!! The print article ROCKS!! You and Jerad are my heroes, Anna! Following God is rarely easy, but ALWAYS worth-while!!!! Love you oodles and oodles!!
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome people! I will pray for you to bring Blake home!
ReplyDeleteI love how God is increasing all you do! Keep stepping forward & he'll keep blessing. With the help of channel 3 you should have the rest of your money in no time! God Bless you & your family Anna!
ReplyDeleteGod bless & good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw the story on KSN and it really inspired me. My husband and I have always wanted to adopt a child after we have kids of our own. We want to adopt from overseas and have always wondered how we would raise the money. Your story gives me hope! I have faith that God is going to provide the money for you one way or another. I will be praying for you and your family. By the way, LOVE the song from Tangled that you have playing on here. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your story. I wish I could share how much it means to me - but I don't know that a simple little comment on a blog could do it. We live in the same town, but I've not met you yet - perhaps one day soon. We will be praying for you all!
ReplyDeleteWishing you and Blake all the best. Looking forward to hearing "the rest of the story."
ReplyDeleteBeing in PA I couldn't watch the story live but read it and plan to watch it online. You inspire me Anna, you and your family. God bless!!
ReplyDeleteI saw your post on the Reece's Rainbow forum and wanted to stop by and support you in your efforts. What an amazing community you have to rally around you in such a way. What a blessing, and Blake is one lucky boy!
ReplyDeleteYay Anna!!! God always comes through! Your benefactor is amazing and very generous!! I'm sure Blake would think the same thing! This is just awesome news!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift from "anonymous". I hope that he/she knows what a true blessing they are giving you and we're happy to help out with that with our comment. I have no doubt that Blake will bless your family and your community in ways that you can't even begin to imagine. We've done the scraping together of funds 4 times now. It's hard, but so very worth it. Saying a prayer that God will shower you with blessings of funds from your community as they see your adoption story!

ReplyDeleteAmazing!! How awesome is this! Can't wait to read stories about his homecoming!
ReplyDeleteI saw the story at www.KSN.com. Today our pastor preached on Colossians chapter 4 -- the list of credits. He talked about all the people who assisted Paul and did the thing that God gave each one to do. I think you are doing the thing God has for you to do and I applaud your faithfulness. Little Blake is getting such a blessing from God. What are the earthly chances for this unconditional love? Nada. The love that is flowing here is God's storehouse, from His agape love and He will see you through. You are on mission from heaven. What a wonderful adventure to embark upon! Blessings to you all. Brenda (never can get the profile thing to work).
ReplyDeleteLove and prayers to you and your family!

Both of my children are adopted so adoption is VERY close to my heart. God will bless reece and you as you walk this journey together. One fundraiser idea we did was ask our church for garage sale donations. WE held 3 garage sales and raised $3,000. Email all your local friends and ask for their Goodwill donations. It helped in a BIG way! Be blessed.
